Nice has a great geographic position and mild Mediterranean climate. The town is protected from strong winds on west by Estérel and on north by Southern Alps. Winters are always mild and summers are never too warm.
Here are the most important areas to visit:
- Promenade des Anglais : Famous boulevard along the sea, the image of Nice.
- Old town: Picturesque area with many restaurants, bars, churches.
- Pedestrian streets: Rue Massena and Rue Paradis
- Chateau: The hill that separates the old town and the port, with Greek castle ruins, artificial waterfall, beautiful view on "Bay of Angels".
- Cimiez: Residential district with museums Chagall and Matisse, and Roman ruins.
- Port: small marina and big trade port where cruises and ferries leave to Corsica.
It is very easy to go around in Nice. The best way is to walk, distances are not too important. You can also use the city buses and the tramway.

region. The main railway station (LA GARE) is situated in the centre of Nice, and by TRAIN you can go to
Villefranche,
Monaco,
Menton,
Vintimille (Italy),or
Antibes,
Juan les Pins,
Cannes,
St. Raphael.
You can also travel by BUS from GARE ROUTIERE (main bus station).Prices are almost the same but train is a bit faster and bus a bit more comfortable.
